Oral Roberts, founder of Oral Roberts University, is
recognized as one of the outstanding personalities of his
generation. Educator, evangelist, businessman, author, and
television personality are among the many titles for which
Roberts has gained acclaim.
He received his formal education at Oklahoma Baptist and
Phillips universities. In 1947 he resigned his pastorate to
enter an evangelistic ministry to pray for the healing of the
whole man. Since then he has conducted more than 300
evangelistic and healing crusades on six continents and has
appeared as a guest speaker for hundreds of national and
international meetings and conventions.
Roberts’
“darling wife” Evelyn, to whom he was married for more than 66
years, went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2005. Oral and
Evelyn Roberts are the parents of four children: the late Mrs.
Rebecca Nash, the late Ronald Roberts, Richard Roberts, and
Mrs. Roberta Potts. They have 13 grandchildren, one of whom is
in heaven, and several great-grandchildren.
I remember in 1986 my family and I went to the Campus of
ORU as we had moved to Tulsa to attend RHEMA Bible Training
Center, and we were able to walk thru a building on the
grounds that was called "Walk Through The Bible Diorama" and
it was wonderful starting out in Genesis and going thru Noah's
ark it was something to see, the walk is long gone now and I
can't seem to even find any pictures of it I guess because of
the time and the cost it was to much to maintain, but this is
just one of the many innovative ideas that may not have all
worked the way he wanted them to but I say thank God for Oral
Roberts.
I
remember the first time I ever heard Oral Roberts speak in a
live meeting the anointing on him was strong as he ministered
to the people he made mention of a fact I thought was very
powerful he said "only two people have built a a great
university and a hospital that is John Hopkins and Oral
Roberts this was in 1987.

The Prayer Tower
I
have been to the prayer tower many times and it always proves
to be a blessing, many time I would go late at night and sit
in the gardens that surround the the tower and pray and walk
or just sit in the cool night air and meditate on the things
of God, you can feel the anointing here, the air is charged
with the atmosphere of long gone days of the tent meeting's of
bro. Roberts, but it is still there an under current of
revival.
